Vertical Garden Project
We designed and installed a 1200 sq ft educational vertical garden system at Delhi Public School, Hyderabad, transforming a blank courtyard wall into a dynamic living classroom. Featuring 42 carefully chosen plant species, the installation not only enhances the school’s environment but also serves as an engaging educational tool. With an integrated irrigation system, plant identification tags, and QR codes linking to biology lessons, the vertical garden provides students with hands-on learning while improving air quality across the campus.
The project came with unique challenges, including creating a completely child-safe design suitable for a school setting, minimizing maintenance needs for staff, and ensuring durability under Hyderabad’s extreme summer heat. Additionally, the garden needed to be structurally secure on an existing wall while incorporating educational features aligned with the school’s curriculum.
To achieve these goals, we developed a tamper-proof mounting system with lightweight modular panels and hidden supports, ensuring safety and stability. An automated irrigation system with remote monitoring was implemented to reduce maintenance efforts, while heat-resistant plant varieties and cooling irrigation methods helped the garden withstand high temperatures. Educational elements such as QR-linked plant tags were integrated to connect directly with classroom learning, making the installation both a functional green wall and a lasting knowledge resource for students.
